Difficult to get admission in colleges of Delhi University is as tough as it is to get seats in college hostels. The cost of living after admission in DU is the most expensive deal for students. In most of these, students want to get a seat in the hostel. But in just 16 of the 64 colleges, hostel facility lengthens the applicants' queue.

There are a total of 3624 seats in DU's 16 colleges and their hostels. It has 2970 seats of colleges while DU has a total of 630 seats in its undergraduate galleries hostel. Seats get admission in colleges after getting admission. This is done separately for this application. The hostel seat is then allotted on the basis of merit and the rules of the college. Those applicants do not get the hostels exactly where their parents live in Delhi.

Girls have a total of 2065 seats in the hostel while 905 seats for girls. There are 8 colleges in 16 out of which only hostels are available for girls. Only three colleges have boys’ hostels - Hansraj, Hindu, Kirroamal.
